Sundance Powers the Main Stage with Our Solar Trailer
Get off the Grid Fest is a biannual event and was held August 18-20 this year at Music Camp in Spartanburg, South Carolina. GET OFF THE GRID FEST bills itself as “the Southeast’s premier demonstration of the efficacy of energy independence fueled by the transformative power of music and activism.”
Sundance Power System’s was proud to power the Main Stage all weekend with our solar trailer. Our trailer is 16′ long and consists of the following components:
- An array of (9) 327 watt SunPower panels, or modules, for a total electrical generation output of 2,943 watts, or 2.94 kilowatts.
- (2) 530 amp hour batteries at 48 volts for electrical storage and backup.
- (2) Direct Current (DC) to Alternating Current (AC) Xantrex Inverters by Trace Engineering, with a combined capacity of 11,000 watts continuous power and be able to handle 20,000 watts of surge. Also has grid interaction capability.
- A 5,000 watt generator will provide back-up power if needed.
“What’s the Best That Could Happen!”
The motto for Get Off the Grid Fest says it all – go in with a totally positive attitude and see what happens! The setting was beautiful, Music Camp is a hidden gem by the Pacolet River that has been around for over 20 years. All of the stages were powered by solar and the whole event was “zero waste” with recycling and composting stations, water stations and more. There were educational panels and demonstrations from electric vehicles to solar cooking. We met old friends and many new ones at this wonderful event – check out the photo gallery to see more!
