How Wind Power Works
CAPTURING ENERGY WITH WIND TURBINES
Wind energy can be captured and converted into electricity using a wind turbine. The blades of the turbine rotate in proportion to the wind speed, and in turn, rotate the shaft of a generator. Some generators produce direct current (‘DC’), while others produce alternating current (AC) directly.
DELIVERING AND STORING WIND ENERGY
Power from the wind turbine is routed to components that make the electricity produced compatible for connection to your utility or for use on your site. If your system is ‘off-grid’ or grid-tied with back-up, additional components including batteries and charge controllers will also be designed into your system. Learn more about off-grid and grid-tied options. At Sundance, we use our collaborative 5-Step Design Process to partner with you to ensure that your energy needs, objectives, site conditions and budget are considered.
