A variety of financial incentives for renewable energy have been available at times to help make an investment in solar energy more affordable. Another purpose is to accelerate the adoption of clean energy technologies. These incentives have ranged from the federal and/or state tax credits to production incentives offered by utilities. These incentives are often the result of legislative policies, and therefore vary from state to state as well as federally.

As of 2026, the federal solar tax credit has been revoked by the current administration. Sundance is deeply disappointed by this short-sighted and sudden decision and we are hopeful for a return to new incentives in the future. What has not changed is the rapidly escalating cost of electricity here in the Carolinas and nationally.
