Third Act WNC presented their latest “Climate Justice Café” on April 9 in Asheville, NC. James Fisher, Sundance Power Systems’ Director of Sales and Marketing, attended the event.
Third Act WNC (Western North Carolina) is a local working group of the national Third Act organization, mobilizing residents over 60 for climate justice and protecting democracy. Based in Asheville, they organize local rallies, “Climate Justice Cafes,” and social events to build awareness and engagement on climate-related issues.
Casey Feiler and Ken Haldin were guest speakers at the event and presented on their organization and its many programs based on growing energy efficiency in our region. Casey is Program Coordinator and Ken is Development Partner for Let’s Go Electric, based here in Asheville.
Let’s Go Electric is a platform that facilitates community electrification programs, i.e., Electrify Programs, which help make electrifying our homes and businesses more affordable and accessible to community residents.
Closing the event was Lisa Harkema, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with an interest in the emotional and social impacts of climate change and climate justice. Lisa lead an interesting discussion on how climate change permeates our lives and how we can better cope with this critical issue.
Third Act WNC holds local Climate Justice Cafes to discuss social/political climate impacts every couple of months, with future meetings scheduled for June 4 and August 27, 2026. Check out their website to connect and learn more!
